What is Powder
Coating?
|
| |
Powder coating is an advanced method for
applying protective and decorative finishes to large variety
of products. These include products used by commercial industries
as well as by end consumers. The process involves a mixture
of finely ground particles of pigment, resin, and fillers.
This mixture is sprayed thru an electro statically charged
spray gun onto the product surface to be coated. Once placed
in the oven for the next part of the process, referred to
as curing, the heated particles become electrically charged
and fused to the product surface.

| What Colors are available?
|
| |
|
Powder coatings are available
in a vast array of colors including glossy, flat metallic,
textured, and many more.

| What are Some Advantages to
Using Powder Coating Versus Wet Spray? |
| |
|
Powder coating provides customers
one of the most economical, longest-lasting finishes available.
The thermal bond process provides a much more durable finish
which in turn is more resistant to chipping, fading, and scratching.
Unlike wet spray, powder coating is less limited to the types
of finishes it is able to produce. Powder coating can be engineered
to create a wrinkle or vein type effect upon baking. These
custom finishes are often used for custom products such as
car or motorcycle parts. Textured finishes are also available
and are designed specifically for hiding any surface imperfections.

| What are Some of the More Critical
Parts of the Powder Coating Process? |
| |
|
The cleaning process is the
single most critical part of the process. This part of the
process pre-treats the product which allows the product to
be receptive to the powder coating. If not cleaned properly
the coating runs the risk of peeling over a period of time.
The 5 Stage Wash System provides step after step to ensure
the product has been properly rinsed removing any lingering
residues. Curing or baking the product at exactly the right
temperature for exactly the right amount of time is also a
critical factor. Performing the baking part of the process
correctly ensures the powercoating has the chance to heat
and bond to the product completely prior to cooling.

| Is Powder Coating Environmentally
Friendly? |
| |
|
Over the past many years, the
powder coating industry has dedicated itself to going green.
Not only is the powder coating option optimal for the environment
but also the convenience and cost of the process. Powder coating
does not utilize any solvent which eliminates any hazard factor
as involved in wet spray and other coating options.
